On 8 July 2024, Julia Langenbacher, Mareike Harm and Dr. Bernhard Hein from EY were guests in the lecture series "Mathe Macht!" at the Department of Mathematics. With the title "Mathematics in Consulting", they gave an insight into the different business areas at EY and shed light on ESG risk management for financial companies - risks from the areas of environment, social and governance. The challenging measurement and modeling tasks make this area particularly interesting for mathematicians. The speakers had all completed a degree in mathematics and reported on their professional careers and how they joined EY. The current projects and development opportunities in an international company, where project teams within Europe also work together across national borders, were also presented. These aspects were explored in greater depth in the subsequent discussions with students.
