PD Dr. Peter Lesky began his academic training at the University of Stuttgart. After completing his studies and doctorate under Prof. Dr. Peter Werner, he spent a postdoctoral phase in Bonn under Prof. Dr. Ralf Leis. Apart from this, he was employed at the Department of Mathematics and celebrated his 40th anniversary of service 4 years ago.

Dr. Peter Lesky was responsible for subject didactics at the Department of Mathematics for many years and in this function, together with the Stuttgart Teachers' Seminar, designed and implemented the modularization of subject didactics in the grammar school teaching profession. Many teachers in the region know him from this role. In addition, he was able to inspire students for mathematics and in particular for calculus in teaching exports and lectures in mathematics courses. Many students have written theses and dissertations under his supervision.

For over 20 years, he organized the annual Mathematics Days at the university and the many activities of the Mathematics School Circle. This supports pupils from year 7 onwards with new and exciting mathematical topics. Many of the activities offered by the Pupils' Circle were and are organized together with student teachers. In 2005, Dr. Peter Lesky and Prof. Dr. Timo Weidl were awarded the State Teaching Prize of the Ministry of Science.

The advanced mathematics course (a school subject for grades 11/12 in Baden-Württemberg at general secondary schools) was co-initiated by Dr. Peter Lesky. This concludes with a state-wide university certificate exam, which he has coordinated and organized in recent years. This has resulted in a close network with teachers, which he will continue to maintain.

For pupils, he was the contact person for BOGY at the Department of Mathematics and provided insights into the world of mathematics, everyday university life and studying. He also supported the department by participating in many events. For many years, he was responsible for the recruitment of assistants in the department. He was also active in many committees as a mid-level representative in the department, faculty council and most recently in the Senate Committee for Teacher Education at the University of Stuttgart.

The Department of Mathematics would like to thank PD Dr. Peter Lesky for his commitment.
