This year’s mathematics & physics summer festivity took place on Friday July 20, 2018. The festivity opened with a lecture from Dr. Markus Faulhaber, Chairman of the Executive Board at Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG Stuttgart, who also holds a mathematics degree from the University of Stuttgart. In his lecture “Transforming the life insurance business model”, Dr. Faulhaber explained why traditional life insurance policies have gone out of use and made clear why the development of a new product model and a change of direction to a more digitally oriented business model to secure the customer interface were essential. After the lecture, Dr. Faulhaber answered questions from students in the audience.
The question and answer session was followed by the traditional summer festivity for members, emeriti and friends of the faculty, on the square in front of the auditorium at Pfaffenwaldring 53. The event opened with a speech from the Dean, followed by the award ceremony for this year’s prize for lecturers from the mathematics and physics student councils. True to tradition, J@zzrake.de provided the musical accompaniment for the summer festivity, and drinks and barbeque were also served.
